Die Hard (1988) – A Perspective Review

There is a strange entry that is classified as “the Best Christmas Movie of All Time”, and while it features the words, “Ho, Ho, Ho”, Merry Christmas, and takes place in December – the FIREWORKS featured inside the movie are the captivating piece of it as we all collectively say, “Yipee-Ki-Yay, Motherf@#%&*!” The words terrorism were a much smaller piece of the world’s fabric in 1988, but is a very large piece of one of the most classic action movie tales woven into the history of cinema.

It celebrates it’s 30th Birthday this year.

The personalities, the fun, the guns, the running, the explosions and connective reparte’ of Die Hard continue to make it clearly a staple in moviedom but why? We take on The Hype, The Money, The Good, The Bad, The Franchise and give it all a ranking as we dig into The Perspective Review of “Die Hard (1988), directed by John McTiernan.

Independence Day (1996) – A Perspective Review

Have aliens visited Earth? This question has always been an intriguing one. From the first “contact” we may have had in 1947, the various incidents reporting inside of The Air Force’s “Project Blue Book” to any one of hundreds of documentaries you can find streaming online today – the question “have we been visited” is alive and well. In 1996, Hollywood, and the makers of “STARGATE” gave us a very special feature film that allowed us to dig even further into that question.

It was called “Independence Day” and it was glorious. From the bursting-at-the-seams casting to the ground-breaking and still delightful special effects to impeccably placed humor, we haven’t really been given something as special as Independence Day in a long time. It’s time for you to check out what 2GuysTalking thought of a truly “close encounter” that all of us had, and still remember here on The 2GuysTalking Podcast Network as we dig into The Perspective Review of “Independence Day, 1996, directed by Roland Emmerich.

American Grafitti (1973) – A Perspective Review

When I was a kid, HAPPY DAYS was one of the most prolific programs on television. What I remember from that was red-headed Richie Cunningham, his family, and the rocking around the clock of those who worshipped the Fonz, and all things drive-in diner. The cars. The stories. The innocence, and ROLLER SKATES! It was a different time with different morals and truly completely different lifestyles. No electronic “things” to take up your time and tons of steel AWESOME to capture your gaze. Time to slick your hair back, grab a cherry coke and rev your engine, because it’s time for The 2GuysTalkingCars Perspective Review of American Graffiti 1973, directed by George Lucas, here on The 2GuysTalking Podcast Network.

The Matrix (1999) – A Perspective Review

What is – The Matrix? In 1999, and still to this day on commercial networks across the world, many find out still to this day find out what – it – is. The Matrix, that was “born” in 1999, provided the canvas of “virtual reality” – infused with AI – Artificial intelligence, and allowed us all to watch Neo, Trinity, Morpheus, and a cavalcade of characters too long to mention, traverse down the digital rabbit hole. Add in guns, a love story, several gargantuan light bulb moments that drive story and imagination and you’ve got something that’s the culmination of just swallowing a blue or red pill, but of years of imagination that combine to make up – The Matrix, 1999, Directed by the Wachowski brothers – which is now square inside the 2GuysTalking Mini-gun Perspective Review cross-hairs, here, on The 2GuysTalking Perspective Review of The Matrix.

Field of Dreams (1989) – A Perspective Review

Baseball certainly isn’t the same game it was even 5 years ago. If we go back to 10 years ago, rule changes, personalities and focuses on “enhancements” changed the game to be sure. If we travel back 20 years, we’ll see how salaries have clearly evolved, how roles changed completely across the board and how owners have become legends – both revered and reviled. Who’d have thought that now almost 30 years later, a tiny little baseball movie, featuring a bunch of ghosts, a farm, and a game of catch Ray Kinsella never had – would be the focus of a Perspective Review? 1989’s FIeld of Dreams offers a little bit of something – to everyone. While a “ghost” story, the only thing you’ll think is “scary” about this movie is your inability to walk past a screen it’s playing on – and keep on walking. Join 2 baseball zealots who detail The Hype, The Money, The Good, The Bad, The Franchise and The Rating of a one of a kind, round-the-bases trip – Field of Dreams, starring Kevin Kostner…

Back to the Future (1985) – A Perspective Review

Few films feature power, nostalgia, brilliant acting, and tethers to two more profound entries that build, and build, and shine. The value of Back to the Future isn’t just that it was a movie that came at a time – we all needed a movie like it, but because of the spine it built for moviedom in general. The characters. The “history”. The connective tissue and pace that make the past, and now imperceivable. We can sit and list ALL of the items we talk about inside our original Perspective Review of 1985’s “Back to the Future…” or you can listen to it now. Enjoy the original 2GuysTalking Perspective Review of a true American classic that continues to take us BACK – TO THE FUTURE!

Code of Silence (1985) – A Perspective Review

The sprawling city of Chicago. A bad cop. A dead kid… and Chuck Norris? There’s something magnetic about Chuck Norris. It’s why we can all quote one of a million quotes where Chuck Norris Doesn’t Do Push Ups – He Pushes the World DOWN. The memories of the best Chuck Norris quotes are good but you know what’s better? The memory of my Mom being in a Chuck Norris movie. Back in the early 80’s my Mom was an extra, in the elevated train and news press corps scene inside of The Code of Silence – starring Chuck Norris. It’s time for an incredibly educational Perspective Review, courtesy of WhatCopsWatch.Com…
