What would happen if you woke up one day and everything you believed in was a lie? What if everything you were taught about the world around you, how to behave, what to feel, how to think…turned out to be wrong? With just a few bits of information, your existence goes from a utopia to a dystopia! What would YOU do? Those questions, and more, are brought up in the 1993 Lois Lowry novel The Giver. Twenty-one years later, the power and potential impact of that book was adapted into a feature film. We here at The Versus Machine need to know…is it better living in the dark when the light of truth can be devastatingly painful?
