As children, after watching a horror film, our minds would race with the concept of “what if I was in the movie?” Closing ourselves off in our rooms to pretend we were playing hide and seek with a Gremlin. Racing back and forth across the yard, trying to our run a bunch of Critters. Or rounding up our friends to stage one final offence against a horde of zombies craving our brains. The only thing that could enhance our play time was if we had monster toys to join in on the fun!
Growing up, we are taught to put away childish things and focus on being adults. There’s no time for playing or using our imagination. It’s all about learning to work hard, pay our bills and taxes, raise a family and die. Right?
Thanks to modern technology and direct input from fans of all ages, horror toys are readily available from a number of great companies. We’re living in a golden age for collectors, but it wasn’t always this great! Dust off your Madballs, take your My Pet Monster out of the closet and join in as we go Toying Around during this episode of 2GuysTalkingHorror.
